Travertine
Travertine is a sedimentary rock formed when dissolved calcium carbonate is deposited from hot geysers. Normally formed with air bubbles which can then be filled with resin and honed to a smooth finish. The Tumbled Finish is made with a waterjet and leaves a more rustic look. To create a Sandblasted finish we use a greater power jet and this makes a smoother finish on the stone.
Marble
Marble is a metamorphic rock and is the next natural process change from limestone, which is then crystallised by immense heat and pressure over long periods. Marble obtains its different colours from the minerals and chemical elements in this process.
Limestone
Limestone is a Sedimentary rock composed chiefly of calcium carbonate (CaCO3), either derived from the shells of marine organisms or precipitated from solution, mostly in the ocean. Most limestone's are very porous and require the adequate treatment. They are softer than Marble and have to be used appropriately according to their density and strength. Limestone is formed in layers - called bedding planes. These bedding planes contain vertical cracks called joints. Joints and bedding planes make the rock permeable.
Slate
Slate is a metamorphic rock, formed under great pressure from what was originally mudstone. Its origins in Brazil date back to the Paleozoic age between 350 and 500 million years ago. Making it equivalent to the Welsh Slate which is one of the best in the world. Our products are finely finish and are not to be compared to low quality Indian and Chinese slates.
Marble in Visenova
Visenova - Available in a Variety of Finishes for Living Rooms, Bathrooms, Kitchens and Conservatories Visenova is a resin-backed stone. The advantages of Visenova are that there is nearly no waste (estimated 2%), the fitting is like a Ceramic, transport is much cheaper, moving the stone is easy, it is light enough for most walls and breakages are nearly zero.
Granites
Granites are usually medium to coarse grained, occasionally with some individual crystals larger than the groundmass forming a rock known as porphyry. Granites can be pink to dark gray or even black, depending on their chemistry and mineralogy.
