Hello there. Finally after a long wrangle with the council!! We have finally got our planning application approved. (Single story extension and detached brick build shed) We are just about to start getting our building regs plans drawn.
We are just seeking people’s opinions about getting rid of radiators totally and having under floor heating throughout the house. We have a bungalow and when finished the house will have four bedrooms (one ensuite), a utility room, one bathroom and a kitchen/dinning room/sitting room combined, sorry telling you this as I cant recall what the total floor area will be. Is there anyone who has just installed UFH? What is their views, do they think they made the right choice etc.
Thanks in advace

Ok, Maybe I am asking the wrong question! I will put it another way. Is there anyone out that would not recommend UFH. Thanks in advance |

There's a lot of information on the internet about this. Have a look at this for example...

In a new house, I'd recommend to go for underfloor heating. But for an extension, I'd just extend the existing system, unless you're already planning on carrying out building work throughout the rest of the house anyway, which would result in the existing floors coming up, etc... |

Hi Macbun i installed underfloor heating in our extension last year. I wish i had it all over the house as its lovely to have warm floor under your feet. The only problem is that it suffers lag, i.e. it can take a while to get upto heat - however we are open plan and have radiators in the rooms which speeds the heating process up. It was quick and easy and cheap to install (it was a pack - not sure about costs for a full house). If you need any info either have alook at my thread or just drop me a line.
